Destroyed by a shell in 1916, the headquarters of the Compagnie des mines de Lens was rebuilt from 1928 to plans by Louis-Marie Cordonnier, and the offices opened in 1930. Built entirely of brick, with stepped gables, oriel windows and skylights, the buildings belong to the regionalist style favoured by the architect. The interior is Art Deco: the furnishings were entrusted to the Majorelle workshop in Nancy and to regional craftsmen. The façades and roofs, the vestibule, the two large ground-floor rooms, the staircase with its banister and stained-glass windows, the first-floor management offices, the pay pavilion and the garden with its boundary walls have been registered as a historic monument since 1 December 2009.
