Art Deco villa built in 1936 for the Vande Vijvere family of Meulebeke industrialists, next to an existing farm in the hamlet of Steendam; it housed the head office of the company Matexi, founded in 1945 by Gerard, Robert and Herman Vande Vijvere. This cement-rendered brick building of four bays and two storeys under a hipped roof has a lively front elevation marked by a wide projecting window bay crowned by a pediment and by a rounded, flat-roofed corner oriel with a tubular railing. The villa is recorded in the Flemish architectural heritage inventory.
