Villa Ruland, built shortly before 1931 or in that year at the latest, with offices and a warehouse at the rear, to a design attributed to the architect Arthur Baar. The inventory sees it as a prominent Art Deco complex on a historic approach road into Hasselt, in a more traditional, bourgeois idiom than other interwar buildings. The brick façade, with bluestone and white stone corner blocks, punctuated by five colossal pilasters, oriels and balconies, comes with geometric ironwork; the interior shows a rich finish with Art Deco influences. The complex has been a protected monument since 2009.
