Maisons de commerce par Gustave Brion, Berlarij 83-91 — Lier

Uniform group of Art Deco-tinged shop-houses whose façades were the subject of a permit application in 1923, to a design by G. Brion. The three storeys are arranged in mirror image on either side of the central house (no. 87), wider and more richly treated, with a full-width balcony; nos. 85 and 89, taller, cemented and painted, have a curved oriel and a triangular gable. The Art Deco ornament partly survives, but the ground floors have replaced the original Art Deco shopfronts. The group is recorded in the architectural heritage inventory.
