Maison de commerce Art déco, Torhoutstraat 8 — Lichtervelde

Former shop and house of 1938 in Art Deco style, with one door bay and one window bay, on two storeys under a pantiled saddle roof. The facade stands out for its colourful treatment mixing yellow brick, red and yellow granito on the upper floor and turquoise tiles for the shopfront, whose wooden joinery survives. The upper floor has staggered planes and volumes, marked vertically by a projecting pier rounded at the top that carries the flagpole; the dormer is crowned with bands and balls. The building is recorded in the Flemish architectural heritage inventory.
