The former Désiré de Meyer home, named after the burgomaster who founded it between 1932 and 1935 along the Mons-Condé canal, housed the children of bargemen. Now occupied by the Athénée royal de Saint-Ghislain, this large complex has an Art Deco-influenced street façade that retains its original window frames. At the corner of the Rue du Port, a small entrance block links it to a house of the same design. Inside survives a classroom cabin modelled on a barge cabin, used to teach the children of boatmen.
